Your dashboard is the first screen you see after logging in to Simple-C. It gives you a quick snapshot of what needs your attention today — from onboarding new accounts to tracking pending workflow imports.
You can always return to it by clicking Home in the sidebar.
First-time users: the “Getting Started” card
The dashboard shows the Getting Started card only while the account is completely empty: there are no clients, businesses, bank accounts, or uploaded statements. It is an initial empty-state guide rather than a checklist that stays on screen through every intermediate setup state. The card walks you through three setup steps in order, each with a checkbox that turns green once it’s done:
- Create your client & business — opens the Add Client & Business page so you can register a client and their business in one guided flow.
- Add a bank account — registers the bank or credit card you’ll import statements from.
- Upload bank statements — takes you to the Entry Workflow Upload step to import your first PDF or CSV statement.
A progress bar at the top shows how many steps are complete. Click any step to jump straight to that page. The visibility rules are:
- Nothing has been set up yet — the Getting Started card is visible and the normal dashboard panels are hidden.
- Any setup item exists — as soon as the account has a client, business, bank account, or upload, the card is hidden and the normal dashboard appears, even if later setup items are still missing.
- All setup items exist — the normal dashboard remains visible.
The zero-client welcome banner does not appear at the same time as the Getting Started card because the two views are mutually exclusive. It can appear on the normal dashboard only when the account still has zero clients but already has another setup item, such as a business, bank account, or upload.
The main dashboard sections
Once your account is set up, the dashboard is built from several cards. Not every card is shown all the time — some appear only when there’s relevant data.
Selected business panel
If you’ve selected a business anywhere in the app (from the global business selector or by clicking a business in a list), a header panel appears at the top of the dashboard with that business’s name, EIN, and contact details. This lets you keep context on which business you’re working in. If no business is selected, this panel is hidden.
Welcome banner (only when you have no clients)
If you have zero clients, a welcome banner appears with the message “You don’t have clients yet” and a Get Started button that takes you to the Add Client & Business page. As soon as you add at least one client, this banner goes away.
Workflow Files card
This is your working list of bank statements that still need attention. It groups files by business, and under each business it lists the connected bank accounts. For each bank you’ll see two counts:
- Pending to map fields — uploaded statements waiting for you to confirm which columns map to which fields (date, amount, description, etc.).
- Ready to complete — statements that have been mapped and classified, and are ready for the Complete step of the Entry Workflow.
How to use it:
- Use the search box to filter by business name, bank name, or the last 4 digits of the account number.
- Click any bank row to jump directly into the Entry Workflow Upload step for that business and bank — Simple-C remembers your selection.
- If everything is processed, the card shows an “All caught up!” message with a button to go to the Entry Workflow.
- The list shows 5 businesses by default; click Show more to load more.
Tip: The colored badges next to each business show the totals (“X to map”, “Y ready”) so you can prioritize at a glance.
Announcements and feedback
From time to time, you’ll see two kinds of pop-ups over the dashboard:
- What’s New modal — a recent product announcement with a title, content, and optional image. Close it to keep working, or read it to stay up to date. Once dismissed, it won’t reappear.
- Feedback survey (NPS) — a short rating prompt where you can score your experience and leave a comment. Submitting or dismissing it records your response and closes the modal.
Neither pop-up affects your data — they’re just there to keep you informed and to help the team improve Simple-C.
Tips for using your dashboard
- Check it at the start of your day. The Workflow Files card usually surfaces what to work on first.
- Use the search box on the Workflow Files card to find a specific business, bank, or account-number ending quickly.
- Click any bank in the Workflow Files card to jump straight into the Entry Workflow for that business and bank — no need to navigate through menus.
- Complete the Getting Started steps if you’re a new user — each step you finish moves you closer to the full dashboard.
