The Billing page is where you start a subscription, see your renewal date, and review every payment your company has made. Open it from the sidebar (Account → Billing).
What you see depends on whether your company already has an active plan:
- No active plan yet → a Pricing table with one card per plan.
- Active plan → three panels: Next Payment, Billing Information, and Payment History.
Tip: Billing is company-wide. Every user in the same company sees the same plan, renewal date, and payment history on this page.
Before you subscribe — the Pricing table
When your company doesn’t have an active plan, the Billing page shows a Pricing table with one card per plan. Each card lists the plan name, the one-time initial price, the renewal price, and the features included.
The feature list is the same on every plan except the LLC plan:
| Feature | Most plans | LLC plan |
|---|---|---|
| Users included | 5 users | 5 users |
| Schedule-C clients | Unlimited | 1 Schedule-C client |
| Expenses | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Support | Email support | Email support |
How to subscribe
- Compare the plans and pick the one that fits your business.
- Click Get started on that plan’s card.
- Fill in the payment modal (see Payment form fields below).
- Click Pay $X.
Your subscription activates as soon as the payment is approved. The page then switches to the active-subscription view, which shows your renewal date, billing information, and payment history.
When you’re already subscribed
Once your company has an active plan, the Billing page is split into three panels.
1) Next Payment
Shows the End date of your current subscription period plus a badge with how many days are left until that date.
- The Renew button only appears once you’re within 60 days of the end date. Before that window, the button is hidden — you’ll see your date and the days-left badge, but no checkout.
- Clicking Renew opens the same payment modal as a new subscription, but the plan name is prefixed with (Renewal) and the years selector defaults to 3 Years (see below).
Why 60 days? The renewal window opens 60 days before expiration so you have time to pay without your subscription lapsing. If your card is declined, you still have a buffer to retry.
2) Billing Information
A read-only summary of the company information that appears on receipts:
- Company name
- Address (and Address 2 if present)
- City
- State
- Zipcode
This panel is informational. To change the company-level address that prefills future checkouts, edit your company profile — not this page.
3) Payment History
A table of every payment attempt recorded on the account:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Date | When the payment attempt was processed |
| Description | What the payment attempt was for (plan name, etc.) |
| Total | Attempted amount in USD |
| Status | success or failed |
The most recent payment records appear first. If no payment attempts have been recorded yet, the table shows “No payments have been made yet.”
Payment form fields
Both Get started (new subscription) and Renew (renewal) open the same payment modal. The left side collects your card and billing address; the right side shows the order summary and a coupon field.
Card details
| Field | Rules |
|---|---|
| Name on card | Required. |
| Card number | Required. Validated with the Luhn check, and the card brand is detected and shown automatically as you type (the input formats spaces for you). |
| Expiry date | Required, MM/YY format (auto-formatted as you type). Must be a valid future date. |
| CVC | Required, 3 or 4 digits depending on the card brand (the field’s max length adapts to the detected brand). |
Billing address
All fields except Address 2 are required. The address prefills from your company profile so you don’t have to retype it.
| Field | Rules |
|---|---|
| Address | Required. |
| Address 2 | Optional (apartment, suite, etc.). |
| State | Required. Select from the US states dropdown. |
| City | Required. |
| Zip code | Required. Maximum 10 characters. |
Important: The address you type into the payment modal is the one sent to the processor for this charge. It also updates your company’s address on file, so it will prefill the same way the next time you check out.
Summary panel
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Years | Choose 1 Year or 3 Years. New subscriptions default to 1 Year; renewals default to 3 Years. Changing the years resets any applied coupon. |
| Subscription line | The plan name and the per-period amount, multiplied by the number of years. |
| Discount | Appears only when a coupon was applied (shown as a negative amount). |
| Total | The calculated grand total in USD. |
| Pay $X button | Submits the payment. Shows a spinner while processing. |
Coupon
- Type a coupon code into the Do you have a coupon? card.
- Click Apply.
- If the code is valid, the discount is applied to the initial or renewal price (whichever matches your purchase) and the Total updates immediately.
- If the code is invalid, expired, or has reached its redemption limit, an error message appears next to the coupon card and no discount is applied.
Coupons can be either a percentage off or a fixed amount off, and they’re capped so the discount never exceeds the price of the plan.
When you click Pay $X
- Success: The modal closes and the page refreshes your subscription details and payment history. A success payment is recorded with status
success. - Failure: The card number, expiry, and CVC are cleared so you can try again, and an error message appears next to the coupon card explaining what went wrong (e.g. declined card). A failed payment attempt is still recorded in your payment history with status
failed, so you have a record of the attempt.
Payment processor
Simple-C processes payments through Authorize.Net. We never store full card numbers on our servers — your card data is sent directly to the processor at checkout.
Common questions
Can I download an invoice? The Billing page lists every payment in the Payment History table, but a downloadable invoice isn’t generated from this page. If you need a formal invoice for your records, contact support.
Can I switch plans mid-cycle? The Billing page handles new subscriptions and renewals only. For mid-cycle plan changes, contact support.
Can I update my billing address? The address used for a charge is captured in the payment modal at checkout (it prefills from your company profile and also updates that profile when you pay). The Billing Information panel on the page is read-only; to change the company-level address that prefills future checkouts, edit your company profile directly.
When can I renew? The Renew button appears on the Next Payment panel once you’re within 60 days of your subscription’s end date. Until then it’s hidden.
What’s the difference between 1 Year and 3 Years? The total is the per-period price multiplied by the number of years you pick, less any coupon discount. Three-year renewals are the default because they lock in the renewal price for longer — you pay once and don’t have to think about renewing again for three years.
Why did my renewal date jump forward by more than a year? When you renew, the new period is added on top of your current end date — it doesn’t replace it. For example, if your subscription ends December 1 and you renew for 1 year on November 15, your new end date becomes December 1 of the following year (not November 15). If your end date is already in the past when you pay, the new period starts from today instead.
My payment failed but I was still charged?
A failed payment attempt is recorded with status failed and no charge is made to your card. Authorize.Net only captures funds when the transaction succeeds. If you see a pending charge on your bank statement after a failure, it’s usually an authorization hold that will drop off on its own — contact support if it persists.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Pay button is disabled | Make sure every required field is filled and valid: name on card, a valid card number (Luhn check), a future expiry date, a 3–4 digit CVC, and all required billing address fields. |
| ”Coupon not found” or “Coupon has expired” | The code is misspelled, expired, or has reached its redemption limit. Double-check the code and try a different one, or contact support for a valid coupon. |
| I paid but the page still shows the Pricing table | Your subscription may take a moment to activate. Refresh the Billing page after a few seconds. If it still shows the Pricing table, contact support with the transaction ID, payment date, amount, plan, and last four card digits. Never send your full card number or CVC. |
| The Renew button isn’t showing | You’re more than 60 days from your end date. Wait until you’re inside the 60-day renewal window, or contact support if you need to renew earlier. |
